About the Mevas inspector team

What is the idea behind Mevas?

What is the story about the Mevas inspector team? The founder of Mevas himself worked for many years as a buyer of used construction machinery. Unfortunately, even then he found that machines purchased from afar did not always match the seller’s description. In the best case, only the tires were worse or a windshield was cracked. In the worst case, there was a defective hydraulic pump or a smoking engine. Based on these experiences, Wolfgang Bühn decided to set up a service. Buyers should be given the opportunity to receive an accurate condition report for construction machinery.

18 years of independent inspection services

Mevas was founded in 2006. Since then, the company has inspected and reported on the condition of more than 10,000 used construction machines, cranes and commercial vehicles. What once started as a one-man business is now a renowned company with several full-time employees and many freelance construction machinery inspectors. Mevas is recognized in the world of used construction machinery as a reliable and inspection company. Leading dealers of construction machinery rely on our service.

An independent third party

We do not receive commissions, Mevas does not pass on inspection results to third parties and the team is not involved in the trade of machines. Our machine reports are not influenced by the seller. This does not always end without conflict, but our reputation shows that it is the right way to go. Meanwhile we offer inspections up to a TA2-level.

If you are looking for used heavy machinery, we cannot help you as we are not involved in the trade. However, we have made a website where you can find a link collection to used machinery websites.

Fraud protection

Sometimes we are asked to check machines from unknown suppliers. We are particularly attentive when the machines are comparatively cheap. In many cases, the inspection team’s call to the vendor can already uncover attempts at fraud or scam. Our team is also trained to detect fraud. We check photos, the vendor’s address and call him for an inspection appointment.

Trained Inspectors

Our inspectors are regularly trained to inspect heavy construction machinery. After they have carried out an inspection, they receive feedback from us. In this way, we guarantee a consistently high quality of service. We would like to claim that we work faster and cheaper than comparable service providers such as the German TÜV or SGS. We follow a four-eye principle for inspections. A member of management checks every inspection report before it is sent to the customer. Four eyes see more than two.

The Mevas Team

The founder Wolfgang Bühn can look back to almost 40 years working with construction machinery. Grown up in the industry he knows a lot about yellow iron. Wolfgang was 13 years with Zeppelin Baumaschinen, working in sales and international sales management for used equipment.

Chris joined the team in 2010 and is working as inspector and manager for 13 years now with Mevas. Christina joined us in 2020 and it the good soul in the office.

Last but not least we have a core team of 17 inspectors working almost every week for us. Another currently 15 engineers are supporting us occasionally. In an average year we inspect 600 to 700 used machines, trucks and cranes.
